Saying Yes

December 30, 2021

Linda* had a job with a position of authority and money, however, she was working 12 to 13 hours a day in addition to weekends. “The job was killing me,” she recalls. “I had no time to give to God. He was on the back burner of my life and my work came first.”

In her first session in the training to the Jesus’ Way approach, the instructor instructed everyone to pray and ask God what He wanted them to do. “I was scared to commit and fully say ‘Yes’ to God because I was in bondage to the job and the salary I was receiving… I realized after my first session that I needed to pray about this situation.”

The next day during her lunch break, she got on her knees and prayed both in English and in the spirit. She asked the Lord to hear her prayer and show her the way out. “I was willing to do anything to… be able to fully serve God.” Right after lunch, her manager came to her about a position that was available. It would mean stepping down from the supervisor position and losing the big salary. However, with this new position, she would have the time needed to be fully about her Father’s business.

“The choice was very clear: either serve God or money.” The Lord had been reminding Linda that He was her provider and He would take care of her. “The peace I felt when I made the decision to take the more humbling job was priceless,” she remembers. “I’m a tither and the Lord is my sole provider.”

Linda had to choose to unhook from the world’s system and to depend on God to provide for her and fulfill His purpose for her life. But in doing so, she declares to others, “Prospering in the call of God on your life versus working a job to make money demands a completely different sight that only comes by walking in faith.”
