At 20 years old, Alina* caught the vision for house church and stepped out in faith to launch her own. A small group of young adults gradually increased and the church gathering began to flourish. Alina shared, “God was so good, He showed up like I’d never seen before.” This ministry was flowing and fruitful. It felt good. In fact, it had become a comfortable role with a group she really enjoyed.
However, God had different plans that meant moving out of her comfort zone.
When Alina first heard the Jesus’ Way (formerly the BFAM Strategy) call to multiply she was not interested. After all, things were going so well with her young-adult house church. But, as the Lord worked on her heart she began to understand that her single house church could never reach the many people around her who needed life-giving salvation and discipleship. She began to talk with some of the faithful attendees of her church and plant the vision of multiplication in their hearts. She called on potential leaders that would be able to step out on their own faith journey to start a house church as she had.
Naturally, when everyone is comfortable it’s not easy to motivate change. As she continue to encourage others to step up and lead, Alina chose to take a big step of faith and close her house church to help other step up and start their own churches.
So, they did.
One house church became two along with another house church currently in the works. That’s triple the locations, leaders, and potential impact! All from one young adult who chose obedience over comfort – time and again.
Alina’s prayer for these new house churches? That they would each continue to take up the call to multiply so that MANY more will be reached!
